Trixie and Dixie are pretty friendly kids. Actually, Dixie is ridiculously social, giving most people a great big smile so she can show off her two teeth.
Trixie is slow to warm up but once she does, she’s your friend for life.
For the most part, they behave this way towards admirers, known and unknown…but there is one woman who sees them regularly that they just don’t quite cotton to.
They say that babies and animals have a good sense about who they can trust and who means them harm. I tend to believe this because i once saw a chipmunk give someone the stink-eye in a hospital courtyard…but that’s another story for another day.
When my babies see this particular woman, smiles dry up and if they are too close to her for their own comfort, they skedattle to the other side of the room to get away from her.
Now she’s not stupid. I don’t think….anyway, my point is this: why doesn’t she stop trying to talk to my kids?
Is she trying to win them over? I mean, does she really give a damn what a couple of babies think of her?
Does she get a thrill out of making them uncomfortable? i mean, it’s possible, there’s lots of sociopaths out there.
Either way, i really wish she’d shut up already and leave my girls be.
So if you happen to stumble across this blog, this ones for you (and you know who you are): stop scaring my kids. seriously.
you’re irritating me.
And like the Hulk said “you wouldn’t like me when i’m irritated!”
….well, actually you might. i hear tell i'm a lot of fun to behold when i'm feeling jerked around.
So i gotta take out a loan to hire a babysitter?
my birthday is coming up and i want to go out to dinner to celebrate. which means i am going to need a baybsitter. most of the people i know who don’t have kids are doing non-kid-related type crap that people without kids do on friday nights.
the people i know with kids are gonna be with their kids.
so i took it upon myself today to look up a certain local babysitting service and check out their rates.
$12.00 and hour for a minimum of four hours….that’s kinda pricey. $48 bucks plus the cost of dinner?
but wait, there’s more…lots more.
a $125 non-refundable registration fee for in-home childcare services???
so, you mean to tell me that i need to pay $173 for childcare so i can go out and have dinner?
it doesn’t even cost $125 to apply to some colleges.
so i can either try to find a babysitter on craigslist or not go out at all.
…..pizza it is.
